"Natural light is how I shoot 99% of the time, I have been told everything from it's lazy to its a shortcut, I have been asked why I don't use augmented lighting etc etc. The answer for me is that it just fits my style."Read More
Enter Seth and Makella, two of the first people I met when I moved to Nashville almost two years ago. I was so very fortunate to encounter two souls with such passion for the people in their lives as well as each other. It has been a true pleasure getting to know these two, seeing them get engaged and then being fortunate enough to capture some special photographs that they will be able to look back on for the rest of their lives. It is a blessing to be a part of another's story, I am constantly reminded of this.
I had a spectacular opportunity to photograph Memphis May Fire, Emarosa, and Yellowcard for 5 days on their tour together last week. When all was said and done I was left with some great new friends, amazing memories and some really fun live images. This set is all Memphis May Fire covered over 4 shows. There is a lot of images I loved from all the bands so I will share the others in 2 subsequent posts soon of the other acts. I hope you enjoy!

Music photography has and always will be my favorite thing to photograph. It truly is a test of ones problem solving skills to adapt to new lighting scenarios with each different act. The colors and effects that stage lighting creates are my most favorite to work with and I still get excited to see what I can come up with. It had been a long while since I have photographed music so I have been really excited to start shooting it again. Here are a few snaps from Marathon Music Works featuring Bonobo and Jungle.
I have known Matty Mullins since I was a kid in high school. Over the years I have been so blessed to know this man and see him grow into a fantastic artist, a dedicated and loving husband, a true friend, and most importantly a strong man of God. Matt has been on a whirlwind journey the last half a decade moving from our hometown in Spokane, WA home of the Lilac City Hustlers, to Texas to join his current band Memphis May Fire a formidable force in the current heavy music scene. Over the years since Matty joined Memphis I have seen the band grow, mature, and thrive into a very impressive group of professionals that make music with passion and heart, with a mind for reaching out to their fans with a positive outlook and encouraging message.
Recently Matty, while still maintaining his loyalty and dedication to MMF, has with the help of his friend and talented producer Cameron Mizell developed a phenomenal personal solo project that released recently on 9.23.2014. The self titled record while musically dynamic and a solid effort is also a testament to Matt's heart for his family, his spiritual journey, and his love for Jesus. It is a very brave and bold record that could not make me any more proud to call him a friend. When Matt asked me to make some photographs for his new project I was excited, the set below is a sampling from the session that was created just near his home in TN. We wanted to tie in where he spends his days with his friends and family to this record and I am so glad we did.
Go pick up the new Matty Mullins record at your local Best Buy store and you can find these photos and more in the album artwork, or download it on itunes with the link below!
I have been following Caroline Acree on Instagram since I moved to Nashville and I have always been an admirer of her style. She puts together a fantastic style blog that showcases local businesses, fashions, and more! Here are my favorite images from our session at the abandoned airport in East Nashville. It was a blast exploring the area electric fence shocks and all.

I have been so fortunate to get to know Brandon and Hallie Ruth over the last year. I love photographing people go after their passions and Brandon is a killer welder. When he asked if I would be interested in shooting some frames of sparks flying I could not resist. The shoot turned into a session of candid photos and amazing portraits that really let HR and Brandon's personalities shine. It was a blast!
These are some of my favorite images, you can also check the story out on my profile in the Stellar Stories app via @shaynegarcia.
